Genese extensive ranges of Diaphragm Seals (Direct Flush, Sandwich, I Section, Extended, In-Line Flow through, Plug-In and Sanitary/Hygiene Diaphragm Seals & Flushing Rings, Capillary Extensions) are suitable to cater almost all process pressure measurement needs. The purpose of a diaphragm seal is to isolate and protect a pressure measuring instruments (gauge, switch and transmitter) from the process media. Diaphragm seal makes measurement safer and more reliable even in extreme working conditions. It also eliminates clogging and crystallization in the measuring instrument.
Diaphragm seal is a thin, flexible metal wall that separates the media and pressure measuring instrument. The space between the diaphragm and the measuring instrument is filled with a system/transmitting fluid, which hydraulically transmits pressure from the flexible diaphragm. The contact surface between the media and the diaphragm is relatively large, which ensures more accurate measurements.
It is often used for the most difficult measuring tasks, such as when the environment is extremely hot or cold, or when a process connection is difficult to attach to the measuring instrument. It also used when the media being measured is corrosive, viscous, and sticky to easily solidify or when the process isn’t chemically compatible with the instrument material.
With diaphragm seal, the measuring instrument can be used at temperatures from −90 to +400°C, as well as with aggressive, corrosive, heterogeneous, abrasive, highly viscous, or toxic media. There are diaphragm seal designs, materials, and filling fluids available for many demanding industrial applications.
